The legacy of The Girl Friends®, Incorporated is rooted in a simple but powerful beginning—five women gathered in a Harlem home in the 1920s, committed to friendship, purpose, and the advancement of women. From that moment, a “chain of friendship” was formed—one that has endured for a century and grown into a vibrant national network of 49 chapters and more than 2,000 members. Today, that same spirit continues to guide our work as we document history, educate and empower women, and create meaningful impact in communities across the country.
